How can I clean up my desktop and toolbar?
The problem that most computer users experience is that, with so many icons in the Taskbar and Desktop, it becomes difficult to find the program you really need. Not only that, but it clutters up the screen. To tackle the issue of taskbar icons, there are a few ways to clean things up. First, check the programs you regularly use. Most will have an option to enable or disable the taskbar icon. By disabling a few of these, you can regain some space. However, not all items have this option. In order to handle these, a good course of action is to use special software that allows you to tweak the startup. With SpeedyPC you can choose which programs load on startup. By restricting which programs load, you can disable unneeded programs from placing unwanted icons in your toolbar. (For details on this, see Why is my computer so slow on startup?).
For the issue of broken links on the desktop, it's important to be sure that the links are actually not useful. There are few things more frustrating that accidentally deleting a link to an important file or program. There are advanced utility programs that allow you to automatically scan your system for invalid links, and quickly remove them. A SpeedyPC scan will confirm that the files are actually broken, and will promptly provide you with a tidy and easy-to-use desktop.
